Booster pump station are highly used for longer sand pumping when a single on board sand dredge pump can not achieve, and there are three types of booster pump station including on board booster pump, floating booster pump and land booster pump.
Sand dredge pump customer may find that the wearing parts of the booster pump are working less operating life than the first sand pump, what are the reasons and solutions?
Reasons of booster pump problems:
1.When booster pump is close to the first sand dredge pump, booster pump is standing high working pressure than the first one, for example, sand dredge pump model 450DOD works for CSD500 is achieving 3500 cubic meters per hour and 65 meters working pressure, when booster pump 450DOD is installed on the dredger, which means the first 450 DOD pump is discharging 0.65 MPa pressure to the booster pump, and the booster pump 450 DOD pump is acting 1.3 MPa working pressure.
2. Booster pump may working in higher NPSHr point, for instance, 450 DOD is normally connecting with 500 mm discharge pipe, if the booster pump is selected with 500 DOD 5500 cubic meters per hour, 60 meters working head, then the booster pump is acting in higher NPSHr, with the reason, not enough slurry (water plus solid) are entering into the booster pump and air may come into.
Booster Dredge Pump Solutions:
1.Booster pump is suggested to be away with the first sand dredge pump only if it is convenient to the working site, which means, if the first sand dredge pump can achieve sand pumping in 2000 meter, booster pump is suggested to be installed in 1800 meters place.
2.Booster pump is strong recommended with same working capacity to the first sand dredge pump, in order to reduce the opportunity of air NPSH.
