The fitting installed to sand pump discharge pipeline, including bends, joint balls, expansions and contractions, valves, will also influence head loss to sand pump, beside of sand dredge pump head loss in straight pipeline. The local head loss will be caused by suction and discharge pipeline.
The head loss through pipe fittings also be called minor loss, which causes the mechanical energy by flow separation and an induced mixing process. The proportion of energy to fitting pipe is much smaller than the energy to straight pipes, and in long pipeline distance, the minor losses through fittings can be even considered negligible.
